Redbourn Classics Event Clear Away
There are a number of things which we need to complete in order to return The Common to its normal state on Saturday evening. In order to help you assess which task you would like to help with, we have included some more details below.
Stakes and mesh fencing
The stakes & mesh fencing will be dismantled immediately after the events ends at 5PM. Volunteers will be needed to remove the mesh from the stakes, roll it up into bundles, and leave placed around the common boundary for collection, along with the stakes. This will include other areas beyond The Common (Museum & visitor parking areas). Classics Committee Members will be on hand to direct & help you place the stakes & mesh fencing in the correct locations for collection. Volunteers will also be required to help put the returned stakes & mesh into the Parish Storeroom. Families can again help, as we need many hands to get it all done as quickly as possible. There is lots of rolling up of mesh fencing!
Signage
Signs need to be collected from display, tie wraps neatly collected for recycling disposal and laminated signs returned to the Control Tent. Scissors will be provided. Clear guidance will be given. No ladders required.
Furniture & Gazebos Collection
A team is required to collect the gazebos & furniture from the various locations around the Common & help to load them onto the flatbed truck for return to St Mary’s Church Hall. The gazebos will be struck by the last bucket volunteer shift, but they may need some assistance. Once back at St Mary’s, the equipment will need to be placed where required in the Church Store. Cars will be required to move between the Common & the Church Hall. Young adults could help out here.
Litter Picking
Stall holders are responsible for collecting and removing their own waste/litter during & after the event. We need a couple of people to walk the Common to pick any discarded litter. Litter picking tools and bags will be provided.
